What are the differences between the two shapes of metal ring gaskets

Metal ring gasket is a sealing ring made of metal. Although it looks like a ring on the outside, it is actually much harder than it! The metal ring gasket is used to clamp in the middle of the pipeline flange, relying on its own hardness and special shape to tightly block the interface. For scenarios like oil pipelines that can withstand hundreds of kilograms of pressure, they rely entirely on metal ring gaskets to prevent oil and gas leaks!

There are two types of metal ring gasket shapes, namely octagonal gasket and oval gasket.

The octagonal gasket is like a polygonal ring, inserted into the trapezoidal groove of the flange with all eight edges fully attached, especially suitable for high-pressure pipelines, and the sealing effect is more reliable than fingerprint locks;

The elliptical gasket is more like a flattened iron ring, and when installed, it uses line contact instead of surface contact. When encountering pipeline vibration, the more it shakes, the tighter the seal becomes.

Regardless of the type of metal ring gasket, we need to be careful not to tighten the bolts too tightly during installation to avoid deformation of the gasket! But don’t loosen it too much, it’s easy to leak, you need to control the force.

There are many types of RTJ gaskets, including R Gasket,RX Gasket,BX Gasket, SBX Gasket,IX Gasket,flange connections,and various customized products.We will do more sharing about ring joint gasket.
