There are many types of RTJ gaskets, including R Gasket,RX Gasket,BX Gasket, SBX Gasket,IX Gasket, and various customized products.
In ring joint gasket, let’s talk about metal octagonal gasket. When tightening the connecting bolt, the pure metal octagonal gasket is installed in the stepped ring groove on the flange surface. Due to axial compression and the tight fit of the upper and lower ladder grooves, plastic deformation occurs, forming an annular sealing band and establishing the initial seal. After the pressure is increased, the effect of the medium pressure causes the ring gasket to expand radially. The gasket and the inclined surface of the trapezoidal groove become increasingly tight, resulting in a self tightening effect. However, the increase in medium pressure can also cause deformation of the flange and connecting bolts, resulting in relative separation between the sealing surfaces and a decrease in the sealing ratio of the gasket. Therefore, the gasket can be considered as a semi self tight seal. Such products also include octagonal pads for bearings, corrosion-resistant octagonal pads, and octagonal metal gasket.
The pure metal octagonal gasket is mainly matched with the flange groove through surface contact. Compared with the elliptical ring gasket, although it is not easy to achieve a tight fit with the flange groove, it can be reused, and the cross-section is composed of straight lines for simple processing. Commonly used for pipe flanges, tower tanks, pressure vessels, high-speed joint surfaces, high-temperature and high-pressure valves, covers, wellhead equipment in the petroleum and natural gas industry, and seals on Christmas trees for high-temperature and high-pressure steam, gas, and solvent applications. Metal ring gaskets originated in the United States and were first used in the boiler industry in the 1920s. Later, they were used for sealing manhole covers and other windows of high-pressure reactors. In the future, they were particularly valued in the petroleum production and refining industries. As the temperature and pressure of steam power equipment increase, the use of metal gaskets becomes increasingly widespread.
