The sealing principle of metal ring gasket relies on its tight fit with the flange sealing surface, especially under high pressure and high temperature conditions. When it is first used, it will undergo certain plastic deformation due to pressure and temperature. This deformation is the key to achieving sealing, but the shape and size of the ring gasket are difficult to fully recover after deformation. When it is used again, it may not be able to match the flange surface accurately, resulting in an increase in sealing gap and the risk of leakage.
At the same time, during use, the surface of the metal ring gasket may experience wear and corrosion due to medium corrosion, high-temperature oxidation, or be bumped or scratched during installation and disassembly. These damages can damage the integrity of the sealing surface, and even if there is no obvious damage to the appearance, the internal structure or surface flatness may no longer meet the sealing requirements. Repeated use can easily cause sealing failure.
For temporary working conditions with low pressure, room temperature, and low sealing requirements, if the metal ring gasket is carefully inspected after use and shows no obvious deformation or damage, and the sealing surface is clean and free of impurities, short-term temporary reuse can be attempted, but the sealing effect must be strictly tested after installation; In critical working conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, flammable and explosive materials, or the transportation of toxic media, the industry usually does not recommend repeated use to ensure safety and sealing reliability. Once leaked, it may cause serious safety accidents or economic losses. At this time, a new metal ring gasket should be replaced to avoid potential risks caused by repeated use.
