Metal gasket – The test of pressure

Metal ring gasket are widely used in machinery and equipment in various industries. They were first used in boiler equipment by Americans nearly a hundred years ago to improve the tightness of these equipment. Later, with the development, they were widely used in industries such as petroleum smelting. Its shape is produced into different shapes according to different uses, and there are generally more octagonal and elliptical shapes.

The octagonal ring gasket is in contact with the flange groove through surface contact, and then forms a sealed state through compression. Compared with the elliptical one, it is not easy to achieve a tight fit during use, but it can be reused. Moreover, the structure is simple and easy to process, and the cost will be relatively low. The elliptical shape forms a seal with the flange groove in a linear contact manner. Although its sealing performance is better than that of the octagonal shape, it requires higher precision in the processing of this ring gasket, and the cost is relatively high. It cannot be reused. These two shapes have their own advantages and disadvantages, and their uses are also different, so they should be selected according to different needs. This type of gasket is made of metal, usually stainless steel, high carbon steel, low carbon steel, copper and other metals containing different trace elements. It has very high strength, good corrosion resistance, high pressure and high temperature resistance, and is suitable for use in harsh environments.

There are many types of RTJ gaskets, including R Gasket,RX Gasket,BX Gasket, SBX Gasket,IX Gasket, and various customized products. We will do more sharing about ring joint gasket.
