In the RTJ seal,it includes BX gasket,IX gasket,R gasket, RX gasket,SBX gasket and other components. The most common types of RTJ gaskets are octagonal and oval pads. Can the two be interchangeable in the use of sealing ring joint gasket? There are oval sealing surfaces and octagonal sealing surfaces that are inclined, and the two are different.
The octagonal ring gasket is matched with the flange groove, mainly manifested as surface contact. Compared with oval ring gaskets, although it is difficult to achieve closure with flange grooves, it can be reused and is easy to process due to its straight cross-section.
The oval ring gasket matches the flange groove, providing good sealing performance, but requires high machining accuracy, which increases manufacturing costs. Meanwhile, oval ring gaskets cannot be reused.
If the flange is a trapezoidal groove, it is estimated to be interchangeable. The commonly used R-shaped oval gaskets are divided into oval or octagonal shapes according to their cross-section. The standard R-type annular gasket is manufactured according to API 6A and ASME B16.20 standard dimensions, with a maximum working pressure of 10000 PSI. In trapezoidal groove flanges, octagonal gaskets can be interchanged with elliptical gaskets. The RX type is suitable for standard R-type annular gaskets with pressurization, as well as for the same R-type flange groove sealing cover. The BX type is designed for pressure enhancement and is suitable for pressure systems up to 150 psi.
