How to control the fastening force of the metal ring gasket?

The control of the fastening force of the metal ring gasket needs to be achieved through pre tightening force and step-by-step loading. The key is to control the axial compression force within the range of 70% -80% of the material yield strength to avoid plastic deformation.

During installation, the diagonal step-by-step tightening method should be used. The initial pre tightening torque should be controlled at 30% of the design value, and the secondary loading should be increased to 60%, ultimately reaching the target torque of 100%. The interval between each loading should not be less than 10 minutes to eliminate stress concentration. For high-pressure conditions, hydraulic tensioners or torque angle methods should be used in conjunction to ensure that the gasket compression rate remains between 15% -25%. Overpressure can cause permanent deformation of the sealing surface, while underpressure can lead to leakage.

The tightening process requires real-time monitoring of changes in flange spacing, and the use of a laser rangefinder to confirm that the deviation of each point does not exceed 0.1mm. The stress relaxation characteristics of the metal ring gasket require re tightening after 24 hours of operation, at which point the torque attenuation is about 10% -15%, and compensation tightening should be carried out at 110% of the original torque value. In high-temperature environments, it is necessary to consider the difference in thermal expansion coefficient. It is recommended to increase the torque margin by 5% -8% on the basis of tightening at room temperature.

There are many types of RTJ gaskets, including R Gasket,RX Gasket,BX Gasket, SBX Gasket,IX Gasket, flange connections, and various customized products. We will do more sharing about ring joint gasket.
